For that matter, there isn't one destoryed in 'The Ninja' either. It's about a guy who studies kenjutsu, and not one tank or car is destroyed via katana in the entire book. He has a stand-alone book called 'Zero' which is pretty good. By the last one when Linnear is a wizard and helping secret government organizations take on the mob (as in US organized crime) he's pretty well left even a pretense of reality behind. There ended up being 6 ninja novels, and they get progressively stranger. No, the out-of-whack with reality books come later. It's not nearly as out-of-whack with reality as Moonstone Spider makes it out to be.

Lustbader did not create the ninja myths used in the book (such as hypnotism and pressure points/bone breaking) - that's all part of existing ninja myth. Other than a few parts which I found extremely distasteful it's a very interesting book. The Ninja was an international best-seller for a reason - it's pretty entertaining. If you can't understand why anybody would think a Katana can cut through a tank, you probably won't like Nicholas Linnear. If you're on the side of Katanas, you'll probably enjoy them. Some people will undoubtedly love them for hte action and lots and lots of sex, although the sex tends to be so bizarrely kinky it's not really fun sex.īasically for those novels, go look at the current Katana myth thread. Ninjas can control your mind, alter your body's fundamental nature (Somehow an evil Ninja reprograms what amounts to a Valley Girl in a single night and turns her into a Ninja herself, able to fight another Ninja fairly even though she has no body conditioning), are experts at sex, know how to torture a person just by touching them with one finger, can heal wounds using their knowledge of the body, etc. Ninjas can wipe out an entire police force in one second (With a Katana that will cut right through the police cars in one stroke).
